MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO DOC:
It produces a ruby red wine with purplish glints. The aroma is reminiscent of flowers such as violet and of fruits like cherry and fruits of the forest but there are also spicy notes of liquorice and tobacco. It can be drunk young and ages well.
The DOC Montelupciano d'Abruzzo recognition dates back to July 1968. The grapes used for the production of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC come exclusively from vineyards located on hillsides and plateaus at an altitude of no more than 500 / 600 m. The maximum yield must not exceed 140 quintals/hectare. The main production areas are Chieti, Pescara, Teramo, L'Aquila. The production of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine has grown considerably and in just over thirty years has risen from 60.000 hectolitres at the beginning of the 70s, to over 630.000 in 2001. The surface cultivated with this vine covers 11.000 hectares, 7.000 of which are used on average every year. Main Varieties
TREBBIANO D’ABRUZZO DOC: Produces wines that are straw yellow in colour of varying intensity, with greenish tinges. It has a fairly persistent fruity and flowery aroma and a typical aftertaste of bitter almonds.
The Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC recognition dates back to 1972. Today Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC is obtained from Trebbiano d'Abruzzo (Bombino Bianco) and/or Trebbiano Toscano grapes, with a contribution of max. 15% from other vines with green berries. The grapes used for the production of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC are obtained exclusively from vineyards located on hillsides and plateaus the altitude of which must not exceed 500/600 m. The maximum yield must not exceed 140 quintals/hectare. The main production areas are Chieti, Pescara, Teramo, L'Aquila. Main Varieties |
